Bivar Introduces Complete Family of
Hot-Swap Ejectors for CompactPCI™ Applications
IRVINE, Calif., September 26, 2001 - Bivar, Inc. has introduced a complete family of Hot Swap Ejectors designed specifically for Compact PCI applications. The IEEE 1101.10 and PICMG 2.0 compliant family includes three styles of ejectors, all providing EDS contact and polarity keying hot swap micro-switches. Designed for optimum compliance and versatility, the new ejectors are compatible with 9U, 6U and 3U cards in both 4HP through 8HP widths and are ideally suited for a electronic enclosures, printed circuit, computer, datacom/telecom, industrial control, security, and test and measurement. The ejectors come standard with a complete set of installation hardware and require no special tools or fixtures to install.
First in the family is the cPCI-E1 Series™ Ejectors which feature a simple mechanical system for positive locking and long service life. The handle seating extends the full width of the die-cast hinge block, providing improved mechanical integrity and field durability. Industry standard configuration allows cross compatibility with many manufacturers' standard devices.
The cPCI-E2 Series' and cPCI-E3 Series'of ejectors feature innovative locking mechanisms with simple push button release to assure positive locking and easy disengagement. Push buttons are molded in high contrast blue (E2) and red (E3) for high visibility to eliminate accidental disengagement. Both series of ejector push buttons can be ordered in custom colors to facilitate branding and coding. The uniquely designed locking mechanism provides a more economical assembly by incorporating proprietary spring designs made from Norel', an engineering polymer, and by eliminating all internal metal springs. Offering a disengagement force capable of withstanding over 60 lbs. compared to less than 5 lbs. in typical ejectors, the rugged design prevents breakage for an increased service life. The new locking designs combined with special chamfered teeth eliminate most wear issues associated with traditional types of Compact PCI ejector systems.
Other outstanding features of the new E1, E2 and E3 Ejectors include durable handle construction of UL rated 94V-0 material, chrome-plated hinge blocks in die-cast zinc alloy, and ample surface area for label application or hot stamping.
