Molex Expands Triad Differential Pair Connector Family
New Cable Assemblies Save Board Space and Achieve Bandwidths up to 5.0 Gbps
LISLE, Ill. - May 20, 2004 - Save board space and achieve bandwidths up to 5.0 Gbps with the new Triad™Differential Pair (TDP) cable assemblies from Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLX and MOLXA). The TDP cable assemblies complement Molex's existing TDP connector product line, offering customers a complete interconnection system. This one-stop solution is well-suited for a variety of applications, including displays, routers, storage devices, switches, portable DVI devices, HDTVs and other entertainment displays, automotive displays, custom applications requiring high speed electrically characterized I/O solutions, and more.

The TDP connector system is a shielded, dual row, 1.27mm (0.50") centerline pitch product with a cable-to-board interface that offers high speed and controlled impedance. Using a "triad" design of differential signal and ground lines, it is able to achieve bandwidths beyond 5.0 Gbps with 5,000-cycle durability. The TDP cable assemblies are available in sizes of 18, 28, 38, 48 and 72 circuits and have two optional jackscrews (4/40 and M3) to ensure reliable mating retention. They are offered in multiple differential pair configurations up to 24 pairs and in standard lengths of 1.00m (3.28') and 3.00m (9.84'); however the cables can be customized to any desired length up to 5.00m (16.40').
"The TDP cable assemblies are very versatile as they allow a high degree of product customization by combining high bandwidth signals with low speeds through extra pin configurations," said Jairo Guerrero, product manager Integrated Products Division, Molex Incorporated. "Molex also has extensive global capabilities and equipment to test cable assemblies before implementation, enabling us to meet our customers' design and cost expectations."
The TDP cable assemblies offer flexibility at an affordable cost. Typical lead-time is approximately six weeks.
